RSVP for Gluten Free Twitter Party

Please join the Gluten Free Twitter Party that is set to take place on Friday, April 3, 2009. This is coinciding with my 49th birthday. There will be panel members to share their experiences plus answer any questions you may have. Feel free to post any questions in the comment section here and I will tweet them to the panels that are set for 9AM, 1PM and 7:30 PM PST. Please do note this is pacific standard time as I am located in California and these times are doable for me and cross over timezones to cover more twitter members.

The hashtag to be utilized for the gluten free twitter party is #gfree. There are various twitter applications that you can use. I prefer www.summize.com where you would just type in #gfree and follow along in real time with the other twitter members. I keep a window open from panel member(s) and summize. When you hit reply in summize it opens a new window in twitter with the @ sign ready to respond to that twitter member. You might want to close window when it has finished posting. You will also need to make room in your tweet for the #gfree hashtag.

There is also www.tweetchat.com where you would sign in using your twitter ID and password and when it asks what room to enter you would type in #gfree. I have tried it a few times. You do not have to keep typing in the hashtag if you use tweetchat.

Another option is to utilize www.tweetdeck.com. I went there once and got lost so never tried to figure it out. There are many twitter members that use this if you seek guidance. I would test it out now with other twitter gatherings that take place on a weekly basis like Monday nights it is #journchat and Tuesday evenings it is #gno (girls night out).

I suggest trying these out if you are new to twitter to see how real time chat events work and how they flow, etc. When you RSVP below in Mr Linky you will be using your twitter ID, not a website as this is a twitter party and going to your website is not going to help another twitter member follow you at the party.

The party is not just on gluten free, but also covering gluten casein free, otherwise known as gfcf, also gfcfsf (soy free) there is also dairy free (casein) and nut free. Some may be going over food allergies, covering preparing lunches for school, implementing a diet or lifestyle change with the whole family, how to handle birthday parties, school parties, holidays, visiting relatives and if special notations on food containers or the person is necessary.

Discussion on how to get an Epi-Pen funded and how to inform other parents at school if contamination is a life threatening issue. We will learn where to get recipes, how to cook from scratch and which sites sell the mixes and other food related products.

Panel members will tweet about books they utilized when starting a lifestyle change and which magazines they subscribe to, which restaurants have a gluten free menu. Prizes will be given out at the panel times that relate to the topic.

RSVP with your twitter ID

I am amazed at your ability to organize these things, very impressed.

Up until now we haven't really made much headway because his diet ranged between 3 and 11 items. I can see why neophobia isn't included in this extravaganza.

Best wishes and many thanks.
Cheers

Hi Everyone! I am Karina Allrich of Karina's Kitchen blog- recipes from a gluten-free goddess. I live gluten and casein free and will be participating in the Gluten-Free Twitter Party as a panelist. I look forward to my first "Twitter Party"- feel free to join in and ask questions about living GF/CF and baking without gluten and casein. Best, Karina

What a fantastic event!! I am thrilled to participate :) I'm Maureen Stanley and I have been gluten free due to celiac disease for almost four years. I blog and podcast about my gluten free life. I have been through the testing process (genetic as well as standard bloodwork) for myself & my two children. I'm looking forward to answering any questions you may have from initial testing, to what GF foods kids (& adults!) find tasty, to surviving birthday parties and other social events without getting glutened. Take care, Maureen

Sounds like fun - I was incredibly impressed by the Autism Twitter Day. If you haven't found another way to document the whole thing, you can to the #gfree twitter search to have it in your blog reader.

My first twitter party - great idear!

I found this via Karina's tweet... I am going to try to join in but as in Australia the time difference may be awkward. I have two GF children (one also dairy free) and I am SF... so Very interested in any hints and tips!

OK, I have GOT to get on the twitter wagon. I just don't get it so far, but it seems to have such great application to real life. Have to do more investigating...

Check out this great book on all kinds of autism diets, Nourishing Hope for Autism. The author covers all kinds of diets (and what makes them work) -- and not just GFCF. Great resource, because it's SO comprehensive. It's an incredible reference for figuring out hwich diet is for your child, understanding supplements, improving your son or daughter's environment and understanding body systems in simple language.

And now off to ask a friend of mine about Twitter...

OK I already messed up! I left my blog url instead of my twitter because I am stressed LOL!!! Is there a way to correct it? My Twitter ID URL is:

www.Twitter.com/OneHappyTree

Can't wait. I'm new to GF but I'm also interested in EpiPen info since I have another child with severe food allergies.

Thanks!
Thanita

Hi. I'm Yasmine Galenorn, an author who's (sometimes struggling to remain) GF, dairy free (milk allergy), along with numerous other allergies and intolerances. On Twitter, so this looks good. See you there.

And oh man, I left my blog URL...duh me. I'll go leave my Twitter URL, if that's what we were supposed to do. Sorry!

Yasmine

I'm really looking forward to a birds eye view into eating gluten and casein free. Although I've been eating clean - er for awhile, I've recently taken it up a notch by focusing on green smoothies and raw foods as well as some cooked goodies and have really noticed a difference in almost everything.

I must have found this site from Karina's Kitchen blog, I found her recipe for sweet potatoe fries, had to tweak it to what I had here and have been addicted ever since! Had to buy more sweet potatoes today :0)
